William Lynch has resigned as CEO of Barnes & Noble effective immediately, the company announced late Monday.
Lynch took over the role a little more than three years ago after having previously served as the president of Barnes & Noble's web operations. In his time as CEO, Lynch presided over the bookseller's efforts to update its bricks-and-mortar operations and push into digital, most notably with the launch of the Nook line of products.
